The Nasarawa State Police Command is investigating a case of the physical abuse of a young lady seen in viral videos being beaten and having her cloth cut with scissors.
The videos were posted by a tweep, Agatha Akaahar, who revealed that the incident had escalated from a fight between the ⅝ and her friend over a phone number.
Our correspondent who observed the video saw the yet-to-be-identified lady being flogged by two men and two ladies, while the recording took place.
In the video, a male voice was heard asking one of the ladies to flog the victim.

The victim was later seen inside a car in an unknown bush area.
The man who was suspected to have ordered the assault was seen using a pair of scissors to cut the top worn by the victim, as she was being stripped.
In an update on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the Nasarawa State Police Command was investigating and would provide details soon.
Giving an update, the Nasarawa Police, in a tweet on Saturday, said, “Sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa state, the Command swiftly commenced an investigation into the case. It is gratifying to state that, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle used in conveying the victim to an undisclosed location where she was assaulted has been recovered. Effort is ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at-large.”
Nasarawa police arrest two over assault on lady
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects involved in the physical assault of a teenager in a video going viral on social media.
The command on Saturday said that the vehicle used during the assault had also been recovered while other suspects in connection to the assault were still at large.
This was made known via the police’s Twitter handle.
“Sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the Command swiftly commenced an investigation into the case. It is gratifying to state that, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle used in conveying the victim to an undisclosed location where she was assaulted has been recovered.
Effort is ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at-large,” they tweeted.
The Nasarawa State police command has apprehended the two sons of Dr Fred Ekpe Ayokhai, an associate professor with the Department of History and International Studies, Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), who participated in assaulting and stripping naked of a young lady, Miss Blessing Mathias.
Recall that the Nigerian Tribune had earlier reported that the lecturer alongside his daughter were arrested by the force command after a video of the lecturer and his children assaulting the young lady went viral on social media.
The police command in a statement on Saturday, October 22, however, disclosed that the two sons who were earlier at large have been arrested.
The suspects, identified as Bob Praise Ayokhai, 23, a 300-level student of the Department of Microbiology, Federal University of Lafia and his brother Saint-Dan Ayokhai, 21, were arrested on Saturday after hours of being at large.
In a press release signed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Nasarawa State Command Police Public Relations Officer, the police again reassured the public that justice will be served.
The statement reads: “In continuation of the relentless pursuit of all suspects connected to the case of assault that was captured in a video that has gone viral, be informed that the duo of Bob Praise Ayokhai 23 yrs, a 300-level student of the Department of Microbiology, Federal University of Lafia and Saint-Dan Ayokhai, 21 yrs old both males have been arrested for being parties to the commission of the dastardly act.
“The Command wishes to assure members of the public that no stone will be left unturned in the course of the investigation as all outcomes will be made public.”

Nasarawa: Police arrest lecturer, daughter for assaulting girl over boyfriend
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a father, Dr. Fred Ekpa Ayokhai, and his daughter for assault.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, Public Relations Officer issued a statement following the viral video of the incident.
Ayokhai, an associate professor at the Department of History and International Studies, Federal University of Lafia, and Emmanuela Ayokhai, are in custody.
The police said the vehicle used to convey the victim to a location along Kwandere road in Lafia, where she was assaulted, has been recovered.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Emmanuela and the victim had a misunderstanding over a man named IG.
The victim had accused Emmanuela of snatching her supposed boyfriend and assaulted her.
In retaliation, Emmanuela mobilised her family, went after the victim and assaulted her as well. She was hit with a stick, flogged and stripped.
Nansel said the Commissioner of Police, AIG Adesina Soyemi has ordered an intensive manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
