The International Association of World Peace Advocates IAWPA has dissociated itself from publications that posits that it is in support of gay rights.
The association said such reports are not the true reflection of what the association stands for.
Amb Emmanuel Nkweke the International Spokesman of IAWPA disclosed this in a press statement where he raised alarm that some elements who are yet to be identified are trying to drag the name of the association to be supporters of LGBTQ rights a position it said the association has never adopted.
Amb Nkweke said the International Association of World Peace Advocates IAWPA being conscious of it's Africanness, sees the rights of LGBTQ as alien to African tradition and customs and cannot in anyway support such rights no matter the pressure.
The statement commended African leaders that have made strong statements against such ungodly practice of same sex relationship.
"The Catholic church has recently condemned such practice and we stand by the position of the Catholic Church and other leaders and notable personalities that have made statements against it. We are peace Advocates and we don't see the acceptance of gay rights as part of our peace advocacy efforts" the statement added.
When contacted to state his position on the issue, the World Peace President Amb. Per Stafsen said the issue of promoting gay rights or the rights of the LGBTQ community is not part of the agenda of the association.
In his words, he said "since the inception of our great association, we have not in anyway discussed the issue of LGBTQ neither have we sanctioned anybody or directorate within the association to do so.
Anybody that promotes such interest should be seen to be doing so on his or her personal conviction it is and cannot be the position of IAWPA".
