Port Harcourt – The Rivers State Police Command said it’s operatives have killed two suspected cultists in Odiemerenyi Community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Spokesperson for the state Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the cultists were gang members of a notorious and wanted cultist identified as David Gift, also known as General 2baba, who killed and dismembered the Ahoada East Divisional Police Officer, Bako Angbashim, sometime in September, 2023.

Iringe-Koko, in a statement on Monday said the cultists who attacked the community in search of Police informants, killed five persons, before they were intercepted and repelled by operatives of the People Police.
Iringe-Koko said the Police while responding to a distress call, arrived at the community and repelled the hoodlums, adding that the criminals upon sighting the Police opened fire on them, but were overpowered by the operatives.
The statement reads, “Operatives of Ahoada Police station received a distress call at about 01:00hours on Sunday morning, November 12,2023, that some suspected cultists loyal to wanted David Gift aka 2Baba invaded Odiemerenyi Community in search of suspected Police informants.
“The Police Division on receipt of the information swung into action and mobilized with other tactical units to the scene.
“On getting to the community, the hoodlums who unfortunately, have killed five natives before the arrival of the Police opened fire on sighting the Police .
“The hoodlums were, however, overpowered by the superior firepower of the Police as two of the suspected cultists were fatally wounded.”
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered the Ahoada Police Division and other tactical units in the area to intensify efforts in ensuring that the fleeing kingpin, David Gift and other suspects were arrested.

The CP also called on residents of Odiemerenyi community and other communities in Ahoada East to go about their legitimate business as adequate security had been put in place to counter any security challenges that may be instigated by criminal elements.
The CP equally condoled with the families of victims of the attack
