The National Coordinator of Committee of Concerned Clergies For Peace In Niger Delta Region, Amb. Rev. Richard Ozununye Ihunwo, is calling on all Clergies in Rivers State to come together in a special prayer for peace amidst the political crisis currently facing the state.

Amb. Ihunwo emphasized the need for fervent prayers as there is a significant level of political unrest and betrayal within the state. He pointed out the various judicial court cases and conflicting rulings concerning the legitimacy of lawmakers and the speakership in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Looking ahead to the upcoming Local Government Area council elections in Rivers State, Amb. Ihunwo expressed concerns about potential political crisis and confusion, especially with both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) announcing their non-participation in the elections scheduled for October 5th, 2024.

He urged all Clergies to fulfill their spiritual duties towards God and humanity by praying for peace in the state. He stressed the importance of giving political honor to those who deserve it, as true leadership is essential for peace to reign.

In conclusion, Amb. Ihunwo emphasized that there is no price too high to pay for peace in Rivers State and urged all to remember that rulers may not always be true leaders. He concluded by stating that a word to the wise is enough.
