Nigeria gained independence from British rule on October 1, 1960, an event celebrated annually on Independence Day. The country was formed by the merger of the Northern and Southern Protectorates in 1914 and is a multinational state comprising over 250 ethnic groups. After gaining independence, Nigeria became a parliamentary democracy, with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa as the first Prime Minister, and later a federal republic in 1963.

Date of Independence: October 1, 1960. 

Colonial Power: The United Kingdom. 

Pre-Independence Formation: Nigeria was formed by the British in 1914 by combining the Northern and Southern Protectorates. 

First Prime Minister: Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. 

First President: Nnamdi Azikiwe became the first President when Nigeria became a republic in 1963. 

Independence Day: Celebrated on October 1st each year with parades, cultural displays, and a presidential address. 

Landmarks: Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos is a significant landmark that commemorates the independence event. 

Post-Independence Development

Government Structure: 

Initially a parliamentary democracy, Nigeria became a federal republic with a new constitution in 1963. 

Civil War: 

The country experienced a civil war between 1967 and 1970 following the breakaway of thee state of Biafra. 

Democracy: 

Nigeria returned to a stable democratic government following the 1999 presidential elections. 

Cultural and Social Aspects 

Ethnic Diversity: Nigeria is home to over 250 ethnic groups and more than 500 languages.

National Identity: The government faces the challenge of uniting the country's diverse ethnic and religious groups.

Let us love one another, fighting here and there will not save our land and people.

Let us stand against corruption, tribalism, religious misconception, and terrorism, attacks.

Let individual that love Nigeria and  the people of Nigeria, change their mindset and start seeing and seeking solutions to our problems.

Every lands have their own problem , let us stay to solve our own problem.

My young generations, as we celebrate Nigeria independence today, make way for your own Independence.Discover your identity and the opportunity that surround you, 

Know your purpose and your why, know Mindset and identity and start developing yourself, your skills, talents and gifts and stay away from trouble. Stay focused and be determined. 

Your future is bright and don't let anyone take advantage of you,  deceive, control, abuse, manipulate and use you to kill, to destroy and to cause trouble in the environment, it is not worth it. Your life is unique and you are special, you have greatness in you.

Youth, Know your right and stand for your right and keep learning for better tomorrow.

Renew your mind,

Guard your mind,

Protect your mind,

Feed your mind with the truth and right information and work with the truth and be honest with yourself and with one another. It is possible and Yes You Can.

Change your mindset 

- From fixed to growth mindset

- From negative to positive 

- From it is not possible to it is possible 

- From obstacles  to opportunities 

- From problem to solution

- From challenges to overcoming

- From evil to good

- From cheat to resourceful

- From consumption to productivity

- From abuse, manipulation and oppression impacting lives.

- From fear of failure and mistakes to I can win, overcome and  succeed again.

And it is possible, Yes You Can.

However,Mindset is Everything and without renewing your mindset, there will be no change and there will be no Transformation.

Our belief system, actions, attitude towards others and resources available to us  and habit and lifestyle can be changed. 

Yes Together we can transform Nigeria and her system and leadership and it is possible and Yes We Can.

Nigeria will be great again, we fall and fail and make our mistakes several times but we shall rise again, Nigeria shall rise again to gain her wealth back and feed the nations. It has happened before and it will happen again. God can do it again and again.

Let us hope for the best and discover what surround us and build our empire.
