Abuja, Nigeria - Renowned peace advocate, Amb. Dr. Hyacinth Olisachebe, has called on Nigerians to shed religious sentiments in order to achieve greatness. In a passionate appeal, Amb. Dr. Olisachebe stressed that religious discrimination is a major obstacle to Nigeria's growth and development.
According to Amb. Dr. Olisachebe, the dangers of religious discrimination are numerous and far-reaching. "It breeds division, mistrust, and violence, which ultimately undermine our collective efforts to build a prosperous nation," he said. "We must recognize that our diversity is a strength, not a weakness, and that our religious differences should be a source of enrichment, not a tool for division."
Amb. Dr. Olisachebe urged Nigerian youths to show patriotism for national growth by eschewing tendencies that discriminate against one another through religious discrimination. "The youth of Nigeria have a critical role to play in promoting peace and unity," he said. "You must reject hate speech and intolerance, and work towards creating a society where everyone can live in harmony, regardless of their religious beliefs."
Amb. Dr. Olisachebe emphasized that Nigeria's greatness depends on the unity and consciousness of its citizens. "We must put the interests of our nation above our individual interests and work towards building a society that is just, equitable, and prosperous for all," he said.
The peace advocate also called on leaders and stakeholders to take concrete steps to address the issue of religious discrimination in Nigeria. "We must enact laws and policies that promote tolerance and understanding, and ensure that those who engage in hate speech and violence are held accountable for their actions," he said.
Amb. Dr. Olisachebe's call to action comes at a time when Nigeria is grappling with rising insecurity and social unrest. His appeal is a timely reminder of the importance of promoting peace and unity in Nigeria, and the critical role that citizens, particularly the youth, can play in building a better future for the country.
Amb. Olisachebe who spent over two decades of his life outside the shores of Nigeria said Nigerians should learn from developed countries who killed religious discrimination. ''our youths are today running to developed climes due to the fact that they killed such tendencies. My slogan is change starts from me and Nigerians must involve such for our country to be really great" he emphasized.
