The wife of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Margaret Obi has tasked women to leave the back seat and support her husband, Peter Obi. While speaking at a town hall meeting in Abuja, Mrs Margaret averred that women stand a lot to gain when Obi takes the mantle of leadership and she eventually becomes the first lady.

Decrying the position of women in Nigeria's politics despite having a high 49 percent of the country's population, the ex-Anambra first lady drummed support for her husband. She asked thus:
“Why should we suffer in silence? We are making this call to women, you can and must empower the nation to birth a new Nigeria. When things go bad, women are the ones that suffer the most. I therefore encourage you to look at what the candidates have to offer you as women. The Obi-Datti pact with women is that they will ensure inceeased access to finance for women. We know that more money in the hands of women equates to a better life for our children. We are the ones that are raising the leaders of tomorrow”.
