Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has unveiled a staggering debt legacy inherited from the previous administration led by Nyesom Wike, revealing that a significant portion of projects commissioned in the state lacked full funding.Speaking at the commissioning of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road, also known as Old Bori Road, in Eleme Local Government Area, Governor Fubara lamented the financial burden left behind by his predecessor.
The event, graced by the presence of Abia State Governor Alex Otti, showcased the completion of a critical infrastructure project. However, Governor Fubara seized the opportunity to shed light on the challenges faced by his administration, including contractors returning for outstanding payments on incomplete projects.
Despite refraining from providing a precise figure regarding the debt, Governor Fubara emphasized the necessity of speaking out, particularly in the face of opposition pressure.

In a bid for transparency, Governor Fubara expressed his commitment to accompany future project commissions with a “white paper” detailing the funding structure.
Addressing concerns about conflicts with the federal government, Governor Fubara asserted that while his administration has received support, internal challenges persist. He hinted at the influence of vested interests within the state.
Governor Fubara’s decision to invite Governor Alex Otti to the commissioning was defended as a strategic alignment with progressive figures. In response, Governor Otti praised Fubara’s leadership, highlighting his dedication to serving the people above personal interests.
Drawing from his own experience in previous administrations, Governor Otti commended Governor Fubara’s resilience amidst political turbulence, emphasizing the divine nature of power.
