The session marked the first legislative gathering since the election of new principal officers, with Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, backed by lawmakers supporting Governor Fubara, presiding over the event. Principal officers and former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were also in attendance.
Before the screening, Speaker Oko-Jumbo commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for providing a temporary chamber in the government house auditorium, following the recent fire that damaged the main complex of the state assembly. With the matter concluded, the Assembly adjourned sitting until Thursday, following a motion moved by the leader. Iboroma, 60, is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the executive council, serving the state in his new role.
