The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) paid a courtesy visit to the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, as part of activities aimed at observing the forthcoming United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation.
During the visit, the IAWPA team, led by Amb. Umoh Don and Amb. Nwokoma Messiah, informed the Commissioner of Police of their plans to honor police officers who have distinguished themselves in service and to offer scholarship programs to children of fallen heroes of the police. The team also briefed the CP on their school and community peace initiatives, aimed at promoting peace among youths in communities.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, expressed admiration for IAWPA's initiative and promised to ensure that men of the police force participate in the program and provide security. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between non-governmental organizations and the police, citing the need for collective efforts to ensure security in the FCT.
COMMITMENT TO PARTNERSHIP
IAWPA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace and security in the community and expressed its desire to work with the FCT Police Command to achieve this goal. The Commissioner of Police also called for more collaboration between NGOs and the police, stressing that such partnerships are essential in promoting peace and security in the community.
The United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation is observed to recognize the importance of international cooperation in promoting peace and security. In Nigeria, this day serves as an opportunity to highlight the critical role of the police in maintaining law and order and promoting sustainable development. IAWPA believes that by working together, we can build a safer and more prosperous society for all Nigerians.
