IN KAMPALA, UGANDA – AWMII (AwMii Africa) marked the International Day of the Girl Child with a powerful cross-border outreach in Kampala, Uganda, aimed at inspiring and empowering young African women. The initiative saw the AWMII team, who traveled from Nigeria, host a vibrant, collaborative session at the International University of East Africa (IUEA) alongside an enthusiastic group of students from Kyambogo University.
The outreach embodied a profound blend of passion, purpose, and the shared African spirit, reinforcing AWMII’s core mission: to uplift, inspire, and affirm to every African girl that her dreams are valid and achievable.

The African Spirit: Celebrating the continent's shared heritage, strength, and unity among African women.
Rape Awareness and Consent: A crucial dialogue emphasizing that “No means No” and underscoring every girl's right to safety, dignity, and respect.

Support Systems and Reporting Abuse: Informing participants of accessible support structures, with a clear directive to confidently reach out to the AwMii Uganda Coordinator, Mrs. Beatrice Challegnat, for guidance and support in the event of any form of abuse.
In a practical demonstration of care and a commitment to health equity, AWMII distributed sanitary pads to over 70 girls to support menstrual hygiene and promote dignity and confidence.

A remarkable highlight of the mission was a high-level meeting with the Right Honourable Rebecca Kadaga, First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Minister for East African Community Affairs. Her words of encouragement and support further reinforced the shared continental commitment to empowering women and girls across East and West Africa.
The Uganda outreach transcended a single event; it was a powerful celebration of unity, strength, and purpose, furthering AWMII's work to raise a generation of African girls who are confident, resilient, and ready to shape the future of the continent.
