In Nigeria Rivers State - The African Women Mentoring and Inspiring Initiative (Awmii) has taken a significant step towards empowering young women, hosting a special edition of the Girls Klinique Conference on October 23, 2025, at Community Secondary School, Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt. The event commemorated the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, bringing together 333 young female students to engage, learn, and discover their potential as change-makers in society.
The conference, themed "GIRLS A VOICE, A FORCE, A CHANGE," featured a range of informative sessions, including career building, goal setting, resilience, faith in Jesus, menstrual hygiene, and counselling. The sessions were designed to equip the girls with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their personal and professional lives.
The career building session helped the girls discover their potential and envision a bright future, while the goal setting session taught practical steps to define and pursue their dreams. The resilience session encouraged them to stay strong in the face of challenges, and the faith in Jesus session reminded them of the power of faith, purpose, and self-belief.
The menstrual hygiene session promoted body confidence and proper hygiene practices, addressing a critical aspect of the girls' health and wellbeing. The counselling session addressed domestic, emotional violence, and sexual abuse, major threats to the growth of these children, providing a safe space for the girls to share their concerns and receive support.
Awmii gifted each of the 333 girls a Joy Pack, lovingly put together to support their daily needs, including a Nivea roll-on, a sanitary pad pack, a 60-leaf exercise book, and a bag. The Joy Packs were distributed to the girls, who were visibly excited and grateful for the gesture.
Speaking during the event, Awmii's Executive Director, Dr. Nissi Ikenna Amadi, encouraged the young girls to believe in their ability to lead change in their families, communities, and the nation. "The girl child is not just a future leader she is a leader today. Her voice matters, her dreams are valid, and her impact is already unfolding," she stated.
Dr. Amadi reaffirmed Awmii's commitment to raising confident and purposeful young women who will drive Africa's development through innovation, leadership, and excellence. "When girls are informed, educated, and supported, they become an unstoppable force for transformation," she added.
The Girls Klinique Conference ended with renewed confidence, excitement, and a profound sense of purpose among the attendees, further strengthening Awmii's mission to inspire, mentor, and empower the African girl child to rise, thrive, and lead change.
In a statement, the Awmii team expressed their gratitude to partners, volunteers, and supporters who made the outreach possible. "Together, we continue to empower girls, inspire purpose, and build a stronger community, one Klinique at a time," they said.
