Port Harcourt, Nigeria – November 17, 2025 The ICC-Security Management Strategic Studies and Defense Institute (ICC-SMSSDI) has conferred its esteemed Gold Peace and Security Award 2025 upon H.E. Amb. Dr. Barr. Emu Oghenero Cynthia, EPA, DSS, in recognition of her exceptional commitment to humanitarian aid and promotin g peaceful security within society.
The award ceremony, held on Nov. 16, 2025, at 45b Woji Acorn Road, Rivers State, Nigeria, celebrated Dr. Cynthia’s tireless efforts in advocating for vulnerable populations. The presentation was jointly conducted by Prophet Dr. Apolus Dumalo, Chap. Brig. Gen. Amb. Dr. Isaac Christian C., and Mr. Goodluck Isaac, all representatives of the ICC-SMSSDI.
During an interview following the presentation, Barrister Emu used the platform to issue a poignant appeal to the government for crucial infrastructural reform. She called for the establishment of dedicated rehabilitation centres for former inmates released from correctional facilities.
"After some individuals or organizations have secured their freedom, many former inmates are left without family ties or a support structure," Barrister Cynthia explained. "They often end up remaining on the streets, which tragically increases the likelihood of re-offending and returning to prison."
She stressed that a comprehensive rehabilitation system would provide essential training and encouragement, empowering them "to have back their life and live again." This intervention, she argued, is vital for breaking the cycle of recidivism and ensuring sustainable reintegration into society.
Chap. Brig. Gen. Amb. Dr. Comr. Isaac Christian C. spoke highly of the awardee's character and dedication. "Barrister Emu Cynthia is a mother who loves to advocate for the welfare of others and cares for them," he stated, highlighting her regular visits to prisons and orphanages to offer assistance. He encouraged her to continue her work for the benefit of humanity and the nation, calling on other legal professionals to follow her exemplary lead. He concluded that the award was intended to "encourage her faith to do beyond."
In accepting the honor, Barrister Cynthia expressed deep appreciation to the ICC security for recognizing her work. She affirmed that the award serves as a powerful motivation, solidifying her resolve to "continue to do more to advance and support humanity and the security system."
