PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State; The National Director of Christian Religion Affairs and Mobilization for the Renewed Hope Grassroot Network, Amb. Richard Ihunwo, has called on supporters of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, to cease lamentations over his exclusion from the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list.
Amb. Ihunwo, who also serves as Director of Mobilization and Monitoring for the Rt. Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda Political Vanguard, described the furore trailing the Governor's exclusion as "completely unnecessary and capable of disrupting the peace of the state."
Speaking in an exclusive interview with ICC News in Port Harcourt, the APC chieftain advised that rather than engaging in needless complaints, the Governor's supporters should channel their energy towards ensuring the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the election of Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda as Governor of Rivers State.
He argued that Governor Fubara lacks the requisite political network and structure to deliver the state for the opposition against the formidable APC machinery.
According to Ihunwo, the inclusion of the former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, as Campaign Coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT, was a strategic and well bvconsidered decision.
He noted that Chief Wike controls the dominant political structure in Rivers State and possesses the proven capacity to deliver the state for President Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general elections.
"As members of the APC family, we should not allow Governor Fubara's exclusion from the PCC to tear us apart," Ihunwo stated.
"With all available statistics and the formidable political structure on ground in Rivers State and across the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is poised to win the forthcoming presidential election scheduled for 16th January, 2027."
He further expressed confidence that Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda, popularly known as "O.K Chinda," and Hon. Major Jack, will secure victory in the governorship election, adding that their emergence is a clear indication that Rivers people will enjoy peace and accelerated development in all ramifications.
He therefore appealed to all aggrieved or politically disappointed citizens to give peace a chance.
"There is no price too heavy to pay for peace to reign as once stated by His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS," he concluded.
