NDDC: "Don't Blackmail Federal Government With Militancy" NDRO Warns
Lagos By Christy'D (ICC Media) International Communication Centre
The Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation NDRO has called on some supposed ex agitators not to blackmail the Federal Government with their militant posturing.
The group also advised the ex agitators to channel their energy to issues that will bring about the development of the region rather than threatening violence.
NDRO in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator Comrade Nwokoma Messiah and Director of Publicity Odongiyon Oluwatobusin described the position of the ex agitators led by one self styled Gen Daboikiabo Alalibo which called on the Sole administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC to step down and hand over to the most senior Director in the Commission as not being a true reflection of the position of majority people in the region.
The statement called on the Federal Government to disregard the Alalibo group describing them as blackmailers who have nothing to offer rather than trying to see what they can grab through their unnecessary and unwarranted attack on the Managing Director of the interventionist Commission Dr Samuel Ogbuku.
The NDRO said rather than calling on Samuel Ogbuku to resign as the administrator of the Commission, the so called ex agitators should have congratulated the Permanent Secretary of the Niger Delta Ministry for bringing in stability to the running of the Commission which has helped the region in its quest for development.
The statement also warned those trying to destabilise the region for their selfish interest to desist from their plans otherwise they will be handed over to the security agencies.
"We watched how the NDDC under the last administration was turned to something else and make bold to say that majority of people in the region are happy with the Commission under Dr. Ogbuku and his stay in office despite the dissolution of boards.
It is sad that some elements out of cheer jealousy and desperation to see that they satisfy their pay masters have come up with a statement aimed at blackmailing the Federal Government under Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. We will not fold our hands and allow them have their way.
We are calling on the government to disregard them because they have nothing to offer.
Niger Delta people are peace loving and want development of the region and not to resort to the atavistuc method of threatening the government with violence.
We have passed that stage and it is important that anybody fanning the embers of war understand this otherwise they will realise their folly in a rather shocking way" the statement added.
