In a move aimed at promoting peace, sustainable development, and humanitarian services, the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has appointed Amb. Obioma Uzoigwe as an Eminent Peace Ambassador.
Amb. Uzoigwe, who is passionate about poverty alleviation and quality education, according to a statement signed by Amb. Messiah Nwokoma Director Media and Publicity IAWPA, will play a crucial role in advancing the IAWPA's mission of fostering global peace, tolerance, and understanding.
The statement said her appointment is a testament to her tireless efforts in promoting peace and sustainable development in her community and beyond.
As an Eminent Peace Ambassador, Amb. Uzoigwe will focus on achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1 (No Poverty) and Goal 4 (Quality Education).
She will work closely
with IAWPA to promote peace education, peace workshops, and other initiatives that support the achievement of the SDGs.
One of the major areas of focus of the SDGs she wants to see achieved within the shortest time is poverty alleviation which is goal 1 aimed at ending poverty in all its forms everywhere. This goal emphasizes the need for social protection systems, equal access to resources, and the importance of supporting those who are most vulnerable. "By addressing poverty she insists, we can create a foundation for sustainable development that benefits everyone".
Amb. Uzoigwe also wants to see the quick realisation of quality education within the country. She believes to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Amb. Obioma Uzoigwe also sees education as a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering economic growth.

Despite her beliefs in the realisation of critical areas of the sustainable development goals, Amb Obioma Uzoigwe through her foundation has engaged in various activities which include
Aid and Relief to the Less Privileged, providing emergency relief, financial assistance, food, clothing, shelter, and other forms of support to individuals and families in need, supporting Widows and Orphans in areas like providing direct support to widows and orphans in the form of financial aid, healthcare, educational scholarships, vocational training, and emotional counseling among others.
The IAWPA is a global organization that operates as a non-profit making entity with a global mandate to promote peace and sustainable development . The organization has a strong presence in over 193 countries and has partnered with various United Nations agencies, governments, and non-governmental organizations to promote peace and sustainable development. The association also enjoys a Special Consultative Status under the Economic and Social Council ECOSOC of the United Nations since 2019.
